Sleep: A Key to Health

Good sleep is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle and a key component for optimum daytime functioning and well being. This lecture will review how sleep affects health, mood and daytime functioning including effects on metabolism and obesity and the impact on health conditions like heart disease and diabetes. We will outline the common sleep disorders along with how these conditions are diagnosed and treated. We will discuss how to optimize sleep quality and quantity as well as how to manage insomnia.
Speaker: Dr. Ron Cridland, M.D., C.C.F.P. Diplomate, American Board of Sleep Medicine Medical Director of the Kelowna Sleep Clinic and Vernon Sleep Clinic.
