Kendra Coupland is a sādhaka, meditation coach, and multidisciplinary artist living and working on unceded Coast Salish territory. In particular, the traditional lands of the Sḵwx̱wu7mesh, səl̓i lwətaɬ, kʷikʷəƛ ̓ əm, Xʷməθkʷəy̓ əm and Sto:lō people. Experiencing the world as a queer woman of color and survivor of childhood sexual assault, Kendra brings a compassionate, trauma informed, intersectional framework to her practice. She constantly strives to create safer spaces for folks who experience marginalization and systemic violence, to practice self-liberation within the yogic community.
Kendra designed this slow, gentle Hatha Yoga class to specifically assist survivors. Trauma can disrupt the ways in which we're able to connect with our body. With a focus on breath and mental presence, we will move through a series of postures called āsanas. This balance of presence, breath, and slow, intentional movement can assist to forge a relationship with the body rooted in trust and self-empowerment.
Classes will be held over Zoom with participant audio and video turned off for privacy. There will be an opportunity at the end of each class to turn them back on or use the group chat to ask questions, share feedback, and connect.
