An Attitude of Gratitude

Okanagan Campus | 7:00pm–8:30pm

Join us for a free event with a focus on gratitude and its importance to happiness, well-being, and overcoming adversity.

A panel of diverse individuals will discuss and answer audience questions on various aspects of gratitude. The speakers will discuss their unique and personal stories, highlighting the role of gratitude throughout their journey. Leave us with the tools and inspiration to make an attitude of gratitude part of your everyday life! Bring your friends and loved ones and come celebrate gratitude with us at this feel-good and inspirational event!

Joshua Dueck: From humble beginnings in a small mountain town to sitting on top of every major podium, from the Paralympics to the X Games, Josh Dueck’s story is one of triumph through tragedy and is everything but conventional.

Francesca Amante: Born into a family who had recently experienced the loss of her brother to a tragic car accident. From a young age, Francesca quickly saw life through a most unique lense - moving her to appreciate the little things in life, cherishing each day as she knew early on that with her brother no longer here on this Earth, her life was most certainly a gift. From a loss of a brother, to experiencing divorce at the young age of 23, Francesca's undeniable passion to serve her community and help others undergoing the same circumstances have been evident.

Mike Shaw: UBC Okanagan alumni, Mike Shaw, has made a remarkable recovery after experiencing a severe spinal cord injury in 2013. Through his experience, he’s developed strategies that use positive psychology to help others achieve their full potential and excel in the face of adversity.

Lyndsey Rosevear: A Program Lead for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind in Career Services and Advocacy. She has an MA in Peace and Conflict Resolution and a certificate in International Leadership. After having founded and run a non-profit organization in Nicaragua and going through a personal vision loss journey, she believes a life which is enriched with gratitude transcends whatever is happening around us.

Hosted by UBC Okanagan nursing students and the School of Nursing.
