Wednesday Wanderings: Forest-Bathing Walk

Vancouver Campus | 12:00pm–12:45pm

Come take a walk with us in Nitobe Garden to breathe the fresh air, practice self-care, and shake out your legs while (re-)connecting with nature, yourself, and others across our campus community. Have fun exploring a variety of “forest-bathing” (shinrin-yoku) activities while “soaking in” the garden’s nourishing and inspiring atmosphere. We will immerse ourselves in nature with all of our senses and experience how we can learn from nature to be in the present moment, slow down, and live life holistically and sustainably. Walks will integrate active movement with meditative, reflective, and experiential elements—solo and as a group. Participants will leave feeling clear-headed, refreshed, and (re-)connected.

Meet at the Nitobe Memorial Garden entrance in comfortable shoes and dressed for the weather—walks will take place rain or shine. This event is offered in collaboration with the Move U Crew. Learn more at UBC Rec.

[“Forest-bathing” (shinrin-yoku) has been gaining popularity across the world, due to its positive health effects, which include reduced stress, improved mood and increased energy and ability to focus. More information and research is available at https://www.natureandforesttherapy.org/about/science]
