Minivillage - Creating a Community in a Lonely City
Vancouver Campus | 11:00am–2:00pm
We are Minivillage, a social purpose tech startup based at UBC and run by alumni. Our team believes in the importance of meaningful social connections and community support for maintaining a healthy wellbeing, and therefore have created an all-in-one neighbourhood platform.
Looking to make friends nearby, find opportunities to share your skills, or stay up to date on local events and activities? Our digital platform encourages on-campus residents to develop quality friendships, exchange skills, and engage in fun activities - all within walking distance. A circle of trusted and skilled neighbours are very much needed after the isolation and challenges of the past year! And what better way to start building this circle than by saying hi to your neighbour? Come by our booth @ the Life Building to let us know where you are from, share your favourite greeting, and explore conversation starters.
Our mission is to provide an all-in-one neighbourhood platform empowering neighbours to build trusted connections, share skills and trade in local networks.
With Minivillage you’ll be able to,
1) Discover → local services, events, and activities organized by neighbours e.g., the guy down your floor might be a budding chef or there may be a yoga teacher in the apartment just above you!
2) Meet → like-minded friends and skilled neighbours through one-on-one meetups or organized group gatherings
3) Share → your skills and talents to serve your community (and gain an alternative source of income!) e.g., sell baked goods, host wellbeing workshops, or offer tutoring services.
Thank you so much for coming to our booth and supporting healthier communities at UBC.
