Healthy Aging from Cells to Society
Vancouver Campus | 6:00pm–7:30pm
Self determination – the right of the individual to determine their own course without interference from other individuals - is often seen as a political stance, not a personal one. However, aging populations can learn from First Nations communities about flexing their right to live as they choose. The First Nations Health Authority in BC is a health authority for First Nations people by First Nations people. At its most basic, it demonstrates the right of people to shape their own health system & look after themselves. Aging adults, like First Nations, can & should, ask for - even demand - an effective, responsive governance and actions ensuring their health & well-being.
