Drum Making workshop for Indigenous Staff
Vancouver Campus | 11:00am–2:00pm
Thrive UBC is hosted every November and is a month that focuses on wellbeing among staff and students by presenting various events around campus. The Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office (SVPRO) is hosting a Drum Making workshop for Indigenous Staff and will be an event that encourages participation and teamwork. Your creativity and imagination will be stimulated as you learn a new skill: making a hand drum. Some say that hand work reduces anxiety and stress, and the concentration required to learn a new skill is a positive one for your general mental health and wellbeing.
Join SVPRO on Wednesday November 22nd in the Student Lounge. Located on the 4th floor in the Orchard Commons Building at 6363 Agronomy Road. Hot drinks and light snacks will be provided as well.
Time: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Cost: Free
Supplies included: one 8-inch drum hoop, deer hide, sinew, and instructions.
Sign up available for 10 participants.
