Creative Healing
Okanagan Campus | 5:00pm–7:00pm
The Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Office (SVPRO) presents "Creative Healing: Ritual & Arts Based Support for BIPOC Survivors"
Hosted Every Wednesday from November 11 - December 2nd at 5:00 - 7:00pm PST
4 virtual arts-based and therapeutic oriented workshops facilitated by Sandra Suasnabar Alberco, an Indigenous, migrant and queer women of Peruvian Andean descendant, Expressive Arts therapist and Counsellor.
The 4 workshops series will be facilitated from an Indigenous healing and wellness approach to Expressive Arts therapy. We will invite and welcome our personal and collective resiliency to guide us every step of the way, this workshop will be our opportunity to honour our healing journeys in a virtual community. The arts-based processes will be facilitated in a way that the engagement in the arts becomes an opportunity to step into a resource and ritual oriented process. You do not need to have an artistic background to participate and/or register in these series of virtual groups.
The workshops are aimed to strengthen our voices, creativity, resiliency and healing by providing a safe and structured space to explore with the arts. Participants will be guided from the beginning of this workshop series to expand on their creative interests by making nourishing pieces of artwork such as a poem, story, talisman, weave drawing and/ or visual art pieces, as works of significance to take away.
This is a closed group and registration will be required. If interested, please get in touch the Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Office (SVPRO) at svpro.okanagan@ubc.ca
