Art and Healing for Liberation Workshop with Sulong UBC
Vancouver Campus | 6:30pm–8:30pm
Join Sulong UBC during THRIVE month as we navigate the importance of cultural work and art in healing through community care and advocacy!
Making art is not only an outlet for individual self-expression and improving well-being but it can also be used as a way to speak out against injustices and to connect it to your personal expression. We will be joined by local artists who will share their experiences of art and mental health.
Please come prepared with some pencils and paper for a writing workshop portion! No experience is necessary and anyone can attend! :) This will be a safe space for folks to connect and become connected to a broader community of folks interested in progressive issues and political change.
There will also prizes up for grabs for the attendees (prizes TBA).
This workshop is FREE but donations are greatly appreciated. Money will be going to further community organizing and activism.

Formed in 2018, Sulong UBC is a Filipinx/Canadian youth and student group with a critical analysis of what it means to be Filipinx on campus, in our communities, and in our personal lives.

Although our event is online, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous struggles and movements on so-called British Columbia and everywhere on Turtle Island. We acknowledge that our work takes place on the unceded and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations. As people displaced from our own homelands through forced economic migration, we stand with all peoples struggling against dispossession and displacement
