Animal Care Services Scooter Sharing Program

Vancouver Campus | 12:00am–12:00am

The department of Animal Care Services supports the UBC Animal Care and Use Program by supporting biomedical research and working with and housing laboratory animals. The Centre for Comparative Medicine is located in South Campus we often have animal care technicians and project staff who need to perform in-person visits to the other facilities on campus and other parts of the Vancouver campus. However, staff would typically need to drive or take the bus as walking takes 30 minutes or more. We would like to establish a scooter sharing program.

The purpose of the scooter share program is to: 1) offer staff the ability to attend required in-person activities across campus with less travel time constraints, 2) expand healthy lunch options off-campus (e.g. University Village), 3) run quick errands more efficiently with zero carbon emissions, and 4) provide exercise around campus.

Our goal is to 1) increase the number of employees who engage in moderate physical activity, and 2) encourage active transportation along with physical and metal wellness for employees.

Staff who wish to participate are required to complete and sign an activity release waiver. Participants would need to bring their own helmets for hygienic reasons.
