Celebrating Faculty Who Foster Wellbeing in Teaching and Learning
The Faculty Wellbeing Champions is a student-driven recognition initiative, supported by units across campus such as Student Health and Wellbeing, Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology, Teaching and Learning Community of Practice, and Human Resources, aiming to celebrate faculty members who create supportive, inclusive, and caring learning environments that positively impact student wellbeing. Through student nominations, the initiative recognizes instructors who demonstrate wellbeing-informed teaching practices aligned with UBC's Wellbeing in the Classroom Toolkit.
Recognition Approach
Unlike traditional teaching awards, this initiative recognizes all eligible nominated faculty members, reinforcing that wellbeing is a shared commitment across our university community rather than a competition.
The initiative culminates in an annual Faculty Wellbeing Champions Event, where recognized faculty are celebrated alongside students, university leadership, and campus partners. Faculty members are celebrated alongside students, colleagues, university, and academic leadership. Learn more about last year’s event here.
