Build community while learning how to cook!
Led by trained peer facilitators, each session introduces a new recipe and covers essential kitchen skills including:
- Basic food preparation techniques
- Meal-prepping strategies
- Budget-friendly cooking tips
- and more!
How it works: Each participant will have their own cooking station with all ingredients provided. Our facilitators will guide you step-by-step through the recipe, and afterward, we’ll sit down to enjoy the meal together while chatting about a discussion topic.
Workshops feature mostly vegetarian meals, and we do our best to accommodate dietary preferences and restrictions.* All skill levels are welcome — whether you’re a complete beginner or just looking to sharpen your skills. This program is open to UBCO students only.
What to bring: A container for leftovers (if there are any!) and a hair tie to tie back long hair
Important Info: This is a high-demand program. If you register but can’t make it, please cancel your spot so someone on the waitlist can attend. If you’re not checked in by 5:10 pm, your spot may be given to a walk-in participant.
*Please note: Picnic is not an allergen-free facility. While we strive to accommodate dietary needs, we cannot guarantee that there has been no cross-contamination with allergen-containing foods. Please indicate any allergies when you register.
Registration Information: Workshop registration opens every Monday at 8 am for sessions taking place on Wednesday and Thursday that week.
