UBC Wellbeing and the UBC Sustainability Scholars Program are pleased to announce funding support for five wellbeing projects for the summer 2020 UBC Sustainability Scholars program.

About the UBC Wellbeing Scholars funding program

Following on the success of the last two years, UBC Wellbeing is once again offering partial funding for up to five UBC Sustainability Scholars projects that support the health, wellbeing, and social sustainability priorities on our Okanagan and Vancouver campuses.

Funding and Costs

The total cost of participating in the program is $6125 of which $5500 goes to the student for 250 hours of project work (equivalent to a rate of $22/hour) and the remainder covers the cost of benefits (e.g., EI, CPP, HTX, and WCB). UBC Wellbeing will subsidize 50% of this cost (up to a maximum of $3,062.50)and the successful proponent funds the remainder ($3,062.50).

How to propose a topic and apply for UBC Wellbeing funding

UBC staff or faculty can complete the proposal template outlining an applied research project of appropriate scope for a student to complete within 250 hours during the May 4 to August 14 program period and submit it to Alicia Hibbert by end of day, Friday, November 15, 2019. Proposed topics will be evaluated in terms of how they further the goals and principles in the Okanagan Charter for Health Promoting Campuses & Universities, the Wellbeing Strategic Framework, and UBC’s 20-Year Sustainability Strategy.
